Gucci
Gucci
Gucci is an Italian luxury brand of fashion and leather goods. Gucci was founded by Gucci Gucci in Florence in 1921. Like Dolce and Gabbana it is an Italian luxury fashion brand meaning they are selling similar products however very differently styled. Gucci is more expensive than Dolce and Gabbana which shows more about their brand identity and the business as a whole. This could encourage their target market to shop at Dolce and Gabbana rather than Gucci because of the pricing.
Gucci is very popular as to buy as second hand, this could mean people selling it for a more expensive price or cheaper. Gucci has became very popular within Hip Hop because of its unique styling and cliche look. This is something that makes them very different to Dolce and Gabbana as Dolce and Gabbanas style isn't as
Glamour posted an article stating that the Gucci belt was the most popular product of 2018. The belt is over £200 making it not that affordable for someone in the same demographic to me; however Gucci has made it become very popular making the brand a high competitor.
On Gucci's website they go a lot more into detail about their ethics including sustainability whereas D&G don't reveal what their ethics are and how sustainable they are. This could be because they they aren't very sustainable and don't want their reputation to be affected and to influence their consumers views on them.
Gucci stopped selling fur from 2018 this decision was part of the company's commitment to sustainability. This is something that Dolce and Gabbana have not done as well as articles that have been written about D&G being cruel to animals to use their fur for their products including their sliders. However Gucci isn't cruelty free which means they test on animals or finance animal testing; so although they don't use fur with their products they still support animal cruelty.
Gucci is the third most popular designer brand worldwide where as D&G is eighteenth. This could be because of how sustainable they are or just because of what there target markets prefer to wear when comparing the two brands. Although as Gucci has became more popular with Hip Hop this could lead them to appeal to a wider market.
